Strengthening Communities
Our region has made tremendous progress in recent years, racking up accolades in one publication after another. Yet, the reality is, people and places have been left behind despite our region’s economic transformation. The Allegheny Conference and Pennsylvania Economy League of Greater Pittsburgh are engaged in efforts to connect people to opportunity throughout our region. In 2013, we launched the Strengthening Communities Partnership to focus private sector resources and energy on underserved communities with real promise. Members of the Allegheny Conference have embraced this program, and it has made a real difference in the seven participating communities:
- Connellsville
- Homewood
- McKees Rocks
- Mt. Oliver/Knoxville
- Sharpsburg
- Washington
- Wilkinsburg
